How to Understand and Implement NABH 5th edition :Aspirants-Applicants-Accredited hospitals Implement guidelines.




The 5th Edition of NABH Hospital Standards along with the Guidebook was released on 15th February 2020. It was accredited by International Society for Quality in Healthcare (ISQUa) on 14th April 2020.



The National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers (NABH) launched its fifth edition of accreditation standards for hospitals across the country .The 5th edition has been approved by the International Society for Quality in Health Care (lSQua) on 14th April 2020..   NABH will Begins its 5th Edition of Accreditation Standards for Hospitals across the Country from September due to COVID-19 Medical disaster.

The 5th edition has been created for exclusively for Health care organization. It will not be applicable to Small Healthcare organisation.The SHCO standards (2nd Edition) are remained the same.

The Fifth Edition mainly focuses on healthcare organizations its Commitment, Achievement and Excellence in their patient care out come.

All Applicant and Accredited Hospitals are required to follow Implementation and Migration Plan as per the following protocol:

Whoever to follow 4th Edition:


a. Accreditation Cycle Validity 4 Years

New Applications which already have uploaded the documents till 30th June, 2020 and also application accepted by NABH Secretariat: Note Check Your Application Remarks Column.

Applicants for which Pre-Assessment is done and are waiting for Final Assessment In these cases all FA till 31 Dec 2020 will be on 4th edition and after that on 5th edition shall be followed: Note Ensure All NC accepted by Principle Assessor including all NC Cycles.

Re accreditation applications before 1st Jan, 2021(Optional for 4th or 5th edition)

B.Accreditation Cycle Validity 3 Years

Accredited Hospitals waiting for Surveillance Assessment -- In cases where SA is scheduled before 31st December 2020.

Whoever to follow 5th Edition:


a. Accreditation Cycle Validity 4 Years

New Applications which have not uploaded the documents till 30th June, 2020: Check your remarks Column.

New Applications i.e. 1st Jan 2021

Re accreditation applications w.e.f. 1st Jan 2021

B.Accreditation Cycle Validity 3 Years

Accredited Hospitals waiting for Surveillance Assessment -- In cases where SA is scheduled after 31st Dec 2020

Note:

NABH will start conducting assessments as per 5th Standard from September 1st, 2020 onwards. Any hospital which wishes to undergo assessment (SA or RA, as per due activity of accreditation cycle of that hospital) may opt for the same. However, no fresh or renewal application will be accepted as per 4th Standard after 31st December, 2020. Also, after this date, no on-site surveillance will be conducted as per 4th Edition. The Accreditation Cycle validity has been revised to 4 Years for 5th NABH Hospital Standards; Surveillance assessments will be conducted between 21-24 months of the grant of accreditation
